Canticos

Canticos is a series of shorts featuring bilingual (English/Spanish) nursery rhymes for preschoolers. It features characters and songs from Latin America and beyond.  I had the pleasure of working in different production and creative roles for Seasons 01 and 02 of Canticos released on  Nick Jr., an additional season release on YouTube, and subsequent YouTube shorts. Below is a sample of some of the 50+ videos we created

Season 01

15 x 2 min Bilingual Music Videos

Role: Production Coordinator. Coordinated and supported Season 01 as a production coordinator collaborating with Mercury Filmworks, show released on Nick Jr.

Audience: Preschool

Produced by Encantos and Nick Jr, animation by Mercury Filmworks

Season 02

15 x 2 min Bilingual Music videos

Role: Line Producer / Board artist: Served as line producer on Season 02, collaborating with Guru Studio and overseeing pre-production.

Produced by Encantos and Nick Jr, animation by Guru Studio

Season 03

15 x 2 min Bilingual Music videos

Role: Producer / Supervising Director

Produced by Encantos

This round of shorts was my animation directorial debut, working directly with a group of artists, designers, animators and production team, in house.

Animator Work

The very early Canticos videos were entirely animated by me. The designs came from their original bilingual books, and animated using Spine and After Effects. Although limited by the existing art, these animations were used in their early apps (now discontinued) as well as on their early YouTube videos which were later the springboards for the series on Nick Jr.

Animatics/Direction

As animation director for Canticos Season 03, I worked closely with the board artists to thumbnail and revise boards, sometimes jumping as an artist or editor to better fit the story. Here are some examples of the animatics in which I played a role.

Beyond the 3 seasons produced, we created more shorts only for the Canticos YouTube Channel, with some reuse of animation and original music
